Louisville Bowman Field is Kentucky's first commercial airport and is the oldest continually operating commercial airfield in North America.
The airport was founded by Abram Bowman, who was drawn to aviation during World War I. He teamed up with Robert Gast to open the airport in 1921.
Charles Lindbergh famously landed at the airport in 1927, surrounded by 10,000 spectators.
Louisville Bowman Field was a training airport during World War II and was featured in the 1963 James Bond film, Goldfinger.
