History of Wick Airport
During World War II, Wick Airport used to be an active RAF airfield.
After being taken over by the Air Ministry and reconstructed with hard runways, Wick Airport became one of fourteen airfields extending from Iceland to North Yorkshire administered by No. 18 Group, FAR Coastal Command with its headquarters at Pitreavie, Fife.
