History

Only opening in 1981, Waterford is relatively new compared to other airfields. Its runway has been gradually extended over the years, and in 1992 was extended to 4,701 ft. Along with the runway extension, a new terminal was also constructed in the same period. The airport is owned by Waterford Regional Airport plc and is a key gateway for the South East of Ireland.

Waterford Airport is only an 11 minute drive from the city centre and is an excellent gateway to the South East of Ireland. It features a well connected infrastructure with new road links being constructed in 2008.
