V.C. Bird is the only international airport on the island of Antigua and is located near St. John's, the capital of Antigua and Barbuda.

V.C. BIRD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT HISTORY
Built in 1942 (on the site of the Villa airport), V.C. Bird was originally operated by the US Air Force.
Handed back to the government upon the closure of the Coolidge Air Force Base in 1949, it became a civil airport two years later.
Known as Coolidge International Airport until 1985, it was renamed in honour of Sir Vere Cornwall Bird (1910–1999), the first prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda.
A new passenger terminal is currently being built and should be inaugurated before the end of 2013.
LOCATION
Located 5 miles northeast of St. John's, the airport is 10 minutes away for the capital.
