Orlando Executive Airport History

Orlando Executive Airport was opened in 1928 as the Orlando Municipal Airport. It was the first commercial airport in Central Florida, mainly used by USPS.

Orlando Executive Airport was used in the 1940s primarily as a military training facility by the US Army Air Corps. It was released to the City of Orlando in 1946.

It was put under the control of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority in 1976. It was renamed the Orlando Executive Airport in 1982.
