History
The Airport started life in 1931 as Yeadon Aerodrome. It featured 60 acres of grassland and focussed on club flying and training flights, scheduled flights began in 1935.
WW2 halted civil aviation movements, but lead to key improvements, and as a result LBA became an important military site for Aircraft testing.
In 1984, opening of runway extensions lead to the first Boeing 747 landing at the Airport.
Looking forward, the Airport has crafted a detailed ‘masterplan’, and forecast passenger numbers to reach 5.1m in 2016.
