History
Fort Worth Spinks is a relatively new airport compared to many others in the area.
It was built in 1988. Its name was derived from an aerobatic pilot and manufacturer named Maurice Hunter Spinks.
The airport replaced the old Oak Grove airport, which was next to the airport after the local authorities decided to shut Oak Grove.
This was in response to increasing growth in the Fort Worth area prompting authorities to build a new airport with greater capacity.
