History
Denver Centennial Airport was originally named Arapahoe County Airport. It opened on 12th May 1968. It was initially built to serve and drive growth at the first business park in southeast Denver.
The airport was originally operated by Arapahoe County, but in 1975 control was passed onto the newly established Arapahoe County Public Airport Authority.
As a result, the airport is no longer reliant on tax dollars to fund operations but instead relies on revenues generated from use of its facilities.
