History
Daytona Beach served as the only runway for daredevil pilots in the early days of aviation. Historically, the first twin-engine aircraft ever flown left the ground at Daytona Beach.
In 1930, the City of Daytona Beach officially moved the airport to its present site. During World War II, the US Navy took over the Daytona Beach Airport for pilot training until 1946 when the City of Daytona Beach regained ownership of the airport.
Due to demand for air travel, construction began on the first terminal at Daytona Beach Airport in 1952, growing their service to over 6,000 aircrafts per week.
Today, the Daytona Beach International Airport serves as a great option for private jet flights to get away from terminal congestion at alternative airports in the area.
