History
The airfield was first set up in 1937 and the first commercial flight took place in 1948 between Avignon and Paris in a Dakota DC-3. In 1990, the airport terminal was extended and in 1997 the runway extension was also completed.
In 1998, the airport saw a rise in passenger numbers of 36% due to France being the host of the FIFA World Cup. In 2004, a brand new VIP area was inaugurated dedicated exclusively to business aviation.
In 2009, a Fixed based operator (FBO) was commissioned at the airport with a VIP lounge dedicated to the business traveller.

The airport is located near the village of Montfavet, approximately 8 kilometres south-east of Avignon, Provence-Alpes-Cotes d’Azur. The airport is easily accessible from the city centre via the Route de Marseille. This journey normally takes approximately 20 minutes.
