Private jets & wheelchairs
Can I take a wheelchair on a private jet?
It's a question we are often asked and the answer is yes, we can arrange private jet charter for passengers with restricted mobility, including those travelling in a wheelchair. We have arranged many private flights for passengers with reduced mobility - many of whom find airline travel impossible or very difficult to achieve.
For private jet charter prices and advice call our expert team on 020 7100 6960 (24 hours).
While there's not enough space for a wheelchair on the smallest of private aircraft, a wheelchair can be accommodated in the cabin of medium-sized jets upwards, starting from a Citation XLS or Phenom 300.
For the most comfortable cabin experience, we would recommend using a larger cabin aircraft such as a Legacy 500 or Challenger 300.
Our Flight Team are experience in arranging flights for passengers with a range of mobility issues, so you can contact us directly to discuss your requirements. We can then recommend the best aircraft and airports, according to your needs and your budget.

Can I sit in my wheelchair during the flight?
The seating options available on private aircraft can make the experience comfortable for passengers with disabilities. One main advantage is the seating, which has increased leg room, car seat-style seatbelts for extra security and offer a club seat style arrangement. All these factors make it easier for those travelling by wheelchair to get in and out of their seat, and also feel secure during the entirety of the flight.
For take-off and landing it's a safety requirement to be in an aircraft seat. Or, if in an adapted medevac aircraft, secured in stretcher.
Depending on the size of the aircraft, the wheelchair itself can be stored directly in the cabin storage area for easy access and may be accessible during the flight.
Specially-adapted wheelchairs are available for use in large converted airliners or large cabin jets and can be secured by the crew for take-off and landing.
Is it possible to carry an electric wheelchair?
Electric wheelchairs are more complicated to carry, but can be taken on large aircraft. In order to confirm if this can be taken on the flight, your Flight Adviser will need to know the weight; whether it can be folded; and the type of battery it is equipped with as some batteries can be restricted.
But most things are possible, with some advance planning.
How does boarding work?
The boarding process for a private jet is more straightforward than an airline flight - particularly for those with restricted mobility or in a wheelchair.
The airport staff and crew will allow you to board at your own pace, with help arranged if required, to make everything as stress-free as possible. At some airports passengers can even be driven directly up to the plane steps, where they can go through the security proceedings from within their car, including getting scanned, without ever having to come outside of the vehicle.
Some private aircraft have wider doors which can make it much easier for passengers with reduced mobility to board.
Special requests
Travel for passengers with restricted mobility does require more advance planning and prior to the trip, any special requests or requirements can be arranged to ensure that the trip goes smoothly for all passengers. Special catering needs can be taken care of and prepared to have on board for the flight.
For those with more additional or severe physical needs, whether temporary or permanent, we can arrange to have things like additional medical assistance, oxygen tanks and more available for use during the flight. Additionally, we can also arrange medical evacuation flights when necessary.
