Forget the airport queues this summer - PrivateFly
Start your trip in style and save up to five hours of wasted travel time - fly by private jet and holiday for a day
With airport queues and airline cancellations mounting up along with record-breaking temperatures this summer, it’s easy to stress out before a holiday has even begun. The weather may now be showing signs of abating, and some travellers are solving the problem of wasting their time stuck in airport dramas by jetting off for well-earned one day breaks...by private jet.
Whilst for business travellers same-day returns are a regular choice, there has been an upsurge in leisure travellers chartering aircraft for the ultimate day of luxury. Carol Cork, marketing director at PrivateFly, where 1 in 10 bookings is now for a same-day return, talks about the latest private jet summer trend - for time-starved travellers to take a 'holiday in a day'. She comments:
"A key summer trend for 2018 is for time-starved wealthy travellers taking a holiday...in one day - by private jet.
"Private jet passengers enjoy the luxury of time with 15-minute check-ins and seamless security at private jet terminals (FBOs). Taking breakfast on the plane means there is time for sightseeing in the morning, a Michelin-starred lunch, an afternoon of shopping or on the beach, dinner and dancing, and then fly back to the UK late into the evening. A return trip to Europe can save five hours of wasted travel time versus scheduled airlines - time much better spent absorbing the delights of their destination.
"It may seem the height of luxury to take a day trip by private jet but it can also cost less than a longer stay. By avoiding repositioning costs that are usually part of the price of a longer charter trip pricing, a private jet same-day return saves £1,000 - £2,000 compared to overnight returns."
Destinations where PrivateFly is seeing day trips include wine-buying trips to Bordeaux, lunch excursions to Jersey, or a round of golf in the Algarve. Nice Cote d’Azur is proving particularly popular for same-day flights from London this year, with a same-day return trip from London to Nice on a 4-seater Embraer Phenom 100 priced at £10,300.
Carol Cork adds: "Nice was PrivateFly's busiest destination overall between May and September last year. This was reflected across the industry, with the city moving into 2nd place in Europe, thanks to over 34,000 private jet take-offs or landings."
