Payment & pricing FAQs for on-demand private jet flights
PrivateFly offers on-demand private jet charter, in addition to our Jet Card and Jet Account services for those who fly more frequently. Here are our FAQs about how and when to pay for your flight.
For private jet charter advice and prices contact our 24-hour expert Flight Team on {{telephone}} or search for instant estimate prices using our flight search.
When do I pay for my on-demand private jet charter flight?
On-demand private jet charter flights must be fully paid prior to departure. You are paying an agreed 'ad hoc' charter price for that specific itinerary and aircraft.
When flights are booked far in advance, it may be possible to pay a deposit, followed by the balance closer to the flight date. This will be advised upon booking.
Jet Card and Jet Account clients set up an account with PrivateFly, with funds placed upfront on account. Flights are charged against the account, based on the hours flown or the market rate for each flight. These programs come with enhanced benefits to an on-demand private jet charter. Find out more about how they work: PrivateFly Jet Card and PrivateFly Jet Account.
Can I buy a single seat on a private jet charter flight?
No, PrivateFly does not offer seat pricing or jet sharing. The price you are quoted is for charter (hire) of the whole aircraft. The price can be for a one-way, return or multi-leg itinerary - depending on your needs.
How do I know I have got the best price?
PrivateFly compares the market so you don’t have to. Our unique technology platform compares a global network accredited aircraft all over the world, to find you the right aircraft at the most competitive price.
Our network of safety-accredited aircraft operators are able to quote competitively, including for aircraft already in position, giving you market-leading pricing for your private charter flight.
In addition to going out to the wider market for prices, PrivateFly offers exclusive preferential pricing on family fleet aircraft that are owned within our group, Directional Aviation. This allows us to offer preferential pricing on these aircraft, in addition to fixed route pricing on key routes in Europe via our City Pairs program.
You can view your live prices and aircraft options online and PrivateFly’s 24-hour Flight Team will also send a quote summary of the best available options.
With the PrivateFly Jet Card, your flight price is based on a fixed hourly rate, for a specific category of aircraft selected from our family fleet and preferred operator suppliers.
Is the price fully-inclusive or are there extras to pay?
A private jet charter price with PrivateFly is fully inclusive of flight costs, landing fees, handling fees and standard VIP catering. Some specific or bespoke catering may be at an additional cost but our Client Services team will agree this with you before ordering. Wi-fi where available is usually charged as an extra cost, but again this will be fully explained and agreed beforehand.
While any required de-icing charges are included in the flight price for our PrivateFly Jet Card clients, they are not included with an on-demand private jet charter. This is industry standard and de-icing charges are invoiced at cost price after the flight. De-icing is not required of course for many flights, but during the winter season, PrivateFly offers a De-Icing Waiver as protection against potential charges. Read more: PrivateFly De-Icing Waiver.
If I change or cancel my flight itinerary after booking will there be additional fees?
Private jet charter flights are very flexible, and it is possible to change timings, destinations or passenger numbers after a flight booked, but in some cases this may incur an additional charge. Any difference in pricing will be advised by your Flight Adviser.
You can book a private jet charter flight with PrivateFly at very short notice - sometimes in less than an hour before take-off. If you want to cancel a flight altogether, cancellation fees will usually apply (although our Jet Card and Jet Account programs offer enhanced terms for cancellations and changes). Speak to your Flight Adviser for more information.
Which currencies can I pay with?
PrivateFly accepts payments in GBP pounds sterling, Euros, US Dollars - and also in Bitcoin. All prices for aircraft are quoted in multiple currencies, and customers can switch between currencies on the PrivateFly website or app to view pricing options.
How do I know if my money is secure before the flight?
PrivateFly acts as a payment gateway between the customer and the aircraft operator. All funds are held in our client account, and payment is not released to the aircraft operator until our operational and financial checks have been fully completed. As PrivateFly is part of Directional Aviation, one of the largest and most successful business aviation groups in the world, you can be confident that your money is secure.
What method of payment can I use for my private flight?
As part of our commitment to making it quicker and easier to book private jet flights, PrivateFly offers a range of payment options to suit our clients’ needs:
PAYMENTS BY CREDIT CARD
PrivateFly accepts secure and encrypted credit card payments via Stripe (using Visa, Barclaycard, Mastercard and American Express). Credit card payments are popular with clients for short notice flights. It is also possible to take deferred payments for flights by credit card, to guarantee the flight while a bank transfer is being made.
PAYMENTS BY BANK TRANSFER
The most popular method of payment is by bank transfer, which does not incur a credit card fee. Bank transfers can be made in GBP, Euros or US Dollars.
PAYMENTS BY DEBIT CARD
Payment can also be made by debit card, which does not usually incur a charge.
PAYMENTS BY BITCOIN
PrivateFly accepts Bitcoin as a method of payment. We added this payment option due to customer demand. As a digital currency, Bitcoin is instant, global and not subject to the limitations of banking hours. Read more on Bitcoin payments for private jet flights.
PAYMENTS BY CHEQUE
PrivateFly also accepts payment for flights by cheque, which should be sent to our head office address at least 14 days before the flight date: PrivateFly, 110 Park Street, London, W1K 6NX, UK.
PAYMENTS ON ACCOUNT
PrivateFly's Jet Card and Jet Account programs allow clients to have a balance held on account. This enables urgent flights to be organised without finance delays, and reduces administration to make arranging each flight faster and more seamless.
